The First Batch of Pilot Projects in Zhejiang

“Good Community” Sports and Health Center in Kangqiao Sub-district, Gongshu District, Hangzhou

As one of the first pilot projects in Zhejiang, the “Good Community” sports health center in Kangqiao Sub-district, Gongshu District, Hangzhou commenced trial operation on November 1. Spanning over 1,200 square meters, it features multiple functional areas, including a sports health test and evaluation station, an adolescent spine health station, a sports health home for the elderly, and a sports health joint clinic. The center offers a wide range of services covering five categories: improving lung function, chronic disease prevention and control, physical rehabilitation, postpartum rehabilitation and body shaping, and scoliosis improvement. It provides community residents with a new space for sports health promotion and management services that cater to all the people and stages of life, creating a new model for community services and governance that integrates sports, health, culture, and people’s livelihood.

Since its trial operation, the center has served more than 1,000 residents in the surrounding area, with 450 health records established and 55 daily visits for routine exercises on average. The center also worked with the Community Health Service Center to launch a fitness and weight loss training camp, recruiting a total of 83 people, who achieved a weight loss up to 6 kilograms within a month. In addition, 12 public welfare services were carried out in conjunction with the sub-district’s sports games, community neighborhood festival, and other activities, serving 1,500 people.

This year, led by the Provincial Sport Bureau and in collaboration with departments such as health, civil affairs, and disabled persons’ federations, a pilot project for the construction of “good community” sports and health centers has been launched in 14 counties (cities, districts) across Zhejiang. This project aims to explore and establish a new model for promoting health through sports that covers the entire population, and to help create a “friendly community for all ages”, achieving both national fitness and health for all.
