Lou Yun was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in 1964.

Lou Yun is reputed as the “King of Vaulting Horse” in world gymnastics for his repeated clinch of gold medals in the World Gymnastics Championships, the Asian Games, and other competitions. In 1982, he was titled as “the Master of Sports". In 1987 and 1988, Lou Yun was titled as one of the “Top 10 Chinese Athletes of the Year”.

Achievements at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games:

Gold medal in men’s vault;

Bronze medal in men’s free exercises.
