Sun Yang was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on December 1, 1991.

He has won championships in many competitions at home and abroad, such as the National Games, the Asian Games, the FINA World Championships, the Short Course World Championships, and the Olympic Games.

At the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, Sun Yang won gold medals in men’s 400m freestyle and men’s 1500m freestyle with a time of 3:40.14 and 14:31.02, breaking the Olympic record and the world record respectively. He also won the silver medal in men’s 200m freestyle and the bronze medal in men’s 4×200m freestyle relay.
