Shi Zhiyong was born in October 1993 in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. He settled in Cixi, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province in 2004.

On the morning of November 24, 2015, Shi Zhiyong won two championships in the 69 kg weight class with a clean and jerk lifting of 190 kg and a total of 348 kg, and the third place in snatch weightlifting with 158 kg at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships in Houston, the United States.

Gold medal in men’s 69kg weightlifting.
