Ye Shiwen was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on March 1, 1996.

After the 2013 National Games, Ye Shiwen won gold medals in all major competitions at home and abroad, including the National Games, the Asian Games, the FINA Swimming World Cup, the Long-course World Championships, the Short Course World Championships, and the Olympic Games, becoming the first golden slam winner in China’s swimming history.

Achievements at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games:

Gold medal in women's 200m individual medley with a time of 2:07.57, breaking the Olympic record;

Gold medal in women's 400-meter individual medley with a time of  4:28.43, breaking the world record.
