From July 28 to August 12, 1984, the 23rd Olympic Games were held in Los Angeles, United States. China assigned a 353-member delegation, including 225 athletes, to take part in the Games. The Chinese delegation participated in 16 of the total 21 sports and won 15 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals, with the number of gold medals ranking fourth among participating countries and regions.

A total of 9 athletes from Zhejiang Province were selected to the Chinese delegation and they won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, and secured the fourth place in one event and the eighth place in two events.
