Zhan Xugang was born in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province in 1974.

He broke records and won gold medals at the National Games, the Asian Championships, the World Weightlifting Championships, the Olympic Games and other competitions. In 1993, he was awarded the title of “Master of Sports of the International Class”. In 1996, he was conferred the title of “Top 10 Chinese Athletes of the Year”.

Gold medal in men’s 70kg weightlifting.
