Liu Jianjun was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province in 1969.

He has won gold medals in badminton mixed doubles at the National Games, the Asian Championships, the Sudirman Cup Badminton Mixed Team Tournament, and the Open Badminton Championships. In 1995, he was awarded the title of “Master of Sports of the International Class”.
