Mascot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Miraitowa is the mascot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The word Miraitowa (reads as mee—rah—e—toh—wa) is a combination of the Japanese words “mirai” which means future and “towa” which means eternity, symbolizing that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will bring eternal hope to people around the world. Miraitowa has cat-like ears, big anime-style eyes, and an athletic frame. Its white body is covered in an indigo Ichimatsu pattern similar to that of the emblem of the Games. The pattern on its face goes back to the helmets worn by ancient samurai. It has the special ability of teleportation, able to move anywhere instantly.
