Wang Yilv was born in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province in November 1994.

He won championships for three consecutive sessions in men’s doubles at the China Badminton International Challenge from 2014 to 2016. In 2017, he won the championship in badminton men’s doubles in the 13th National Games. In 2018, he won the championship in mixed doubles at the Badminton Asia Championships, and won the first world championship at the Thomas Cup. In 2019, he won the championship at the Sudirman Cup World Badminton Mixed Team Championships.

On July 30, 2021, he won the gold medal in badminton mixed doubles at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
