The back side of the medals includes three elements: the flame, which was lit in Olympia and then crossed five continents in the 2004 Olympic torch relay; the first lines of the Olympian Odes written by the ancient Greek poet Pindar in 460 BC; the emblem of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
