Male rowing athlete Liu Qun was born in Zhoushan, Zhejiang in 1963. He was selected to Zhejiang provincial rowing team in 1979.

He clinched the championship in men’s single sculls 2000m at the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games.

He won the championship in men’s single sculls 2000m once again at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games.
