The 10th Asian Games was held in Seoul, South Korea from September 20 to October 5, 1986. The Chinese delegation won a haul of 94 gold, 82 silver, and 46 bronze medals, continuing to dominate the gold medal tally with one medal’s edge higher than South Korea.

Zhejiang Province was represented by 11 athletes. With nine gold medals, three silver medals, and six bronze medals, Zhejiang athletes contributed significantly to China’s reigning champion in the gold medal count. In the men’s athletics 4×100m relay, the final event before the closing ceremony, Zheng Chen, who ran the anchor leg, played a crucial role in securing this thrilling gold medal for Team China. He was hailed as “the man who determined the final results” by the media.
