Male rowing athlete He Jiangdong was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang in 1960. He was selected to Zhejiang provincial rowing team in 1978.

He won the championship in men’s lightweight double sculls at the First Asian Rowing Championships in 1985.

He clinched the gold medal in rowing men’s eight with coxswain at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games.
