Lou Yun, a male gymnast from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, was born in 1964. He entered Zhejiang Provincial Sports School in 1973 from Hangzhou Sports School. In 1977, he was selected to the national gymnastics training team.

Known as the “king of vaulting”, Lou Yun has won gold medals in vault competitions at the World Gymnastics Championships and Asian Games. He was honored as the Master Sportsman in 1982.

At the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, he won championships in both the gymnastics men’s team and the men’s vault events.
