Female track and field athlete Zhang Caihua was born in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province in 1965. She was selected to Zhejiang athletics team in 1979 and the national team in 1985.

In 1989, she won the gold medals in women’s 100m and 4×100m relay at the Eighth Asian Athletics Championships.

In 1990, she won the gold medal in women’s 4×100m relay at the Beijing Asian Games.
