Female track and field athlete Ma Miaolan was born in Dongyang, Zhejiang Province in 1970. She was selected to Zhejiang provincial athletics team in 1983 and the national team in 1989.

In 1987, she won the silver medal in women’s heptathlon at the Sixth National Games.

In 1990, she won the gold medal in women’s heptathlon at the Beijing Asian Games.
