Male track and field athlete Li Rongxiang was born in February 1972 in Changxing, Zhejiang Province. He entered Huzhou Youth Sports School in 1985 and then Zhejiang provincial track and field team in 1989.

He won the championship in men’s javelin throw at the Second National Youth Games in 1989 and broke the Asian youth record in 1991. He won the championship in men’s javelin throw at the 2001 East Asian Games, the gold medal in men’s javelin throw at the National Games held in Guangdong in 2001, and the championships in men’s javelin throw at the 14th National Games and the Asian Athletics Championships in 2002 .
