Male badminton player Xia Xuanze was born on January 5, 1979 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. He was selected to Zhejiang provincial badminton team in November 1989 and the national badminton team in February 1996.

He won the championship in badminton men’s team at the Asian Youth Championships in 1997, the championships in badminton men’s singles at the Netherlands and German Opens in 1999, the third place in badminton men’s singles at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, and the championships in badminton men’s singles at the BWF Grand Prix Finals, the BWF Super League, the China Open, and the Asian Championships in 2001.

In 2002, he won the third place in badminton men’s team at the 14th Asian Games held in Busan.
