Zhong Qixin was born in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province in April 1989. In 2012, he registered as a member of the Ningbo Sports Training Center.

In 2013, he won the gold medal of speed climbing at the World Climbing Championships and broke the world record with a score of 5:87 seconds. He won the 2012-2013 “China Outdoor Event Person of the Year”. In 2015, he won the gold medal of men’s speed climbing at the IFSC Climbing World Cup Chongqing. In 2018, he won the gold medal in 15-meter-wall speed climbing at the IFSC Asia Cup Thailand.
