Female rower Shen Songping was born in 1977 in Qingyuan, Zhejiang Province. She entered Qingyuan County Youth Sports School in 1992 and was selected to Zhejiang provincial rowing team in January 1994 and then to the national rowing team in October 1997.

She won the runner up in rowing women’s lightweight four at the Eighth National Games in 1997 and the fourth place in women’s lightweight quadruple sculls at the World Rowing Championships in 1998.

She won the championship in women’s lightweight quadruple sculls at the 1998 Asian Games held in Bangkok.
