Male Sanda athlete You Bangmeng was born in 1974 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. He entered Wenzhou Second Youth Sports School in 1989, the Martial Arts Department of Shanghai University of Sport in 1992, and Zhejiang Sanda sports team in 1997.

He became an individual champion at the National Sanda Championships in 1991, the champion at the National Sanda Championship in 1994, and the champion in men’s 65 kg at the Third World Wushu Championships in 1995.

He won the championship in Wushu men’s 65kg Sanda at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
