Male boxer Yang Xiangzhong was born in 1974 in Yueqing, Zhejiang Province. He entered Zhejiang provincial boxing team in 1991 and the national boxing training team in 1993.

He won the championships in men’s 48kg category at the National Boxing Championships in 1994, 1995 and 1996. In 1997, he won the gold medal in men’s boxing 48kg at the Eighth National Games.

He became the runner-up of men’s 48kg boxing at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
