Yachtswoman Zhang Hong was born in 1972 in Jiaojiang, Zhejiang Province. In 1988, she entered Zhejiang provincial sailing team.

In 1993, she won the gold medal in women’s sailing Europe class at the Seventh National Games.

She won the championship in women’s sailing Europe class at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
