Female shooting athlete Wang Xian was born in May 1978 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. She was selected to Zhejiang provincial shooting team from the Zhejiang Provincial Sports School in 1993 and became a member of the national shooting team in 1997.

She won the championships in women’ air rifle at the 1996 National Individual Championship, in women’s standard rifle 3×20 at the 8th National Games in 1997, and in women’s sporting rifle 3×20 team at the 1998 World Shooting Championship.

She won the championships in women’s sporting rifle team and sporting rifle prone individual, the second place in women’s sporting rifle prone team and the third place in women’s air rifle 40 shots team at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
