Male badminton player Chen Gang was born in 1976 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He entered Zhejiang Provincial Sports School in 1985, Zhejiang provincial badminton team in 1989 and the national badminton team in 1994.

He won the championships in badminton men’s single at the Second World Junior Badminton Championships in 1994, the Third World Junior Badminton Championships in 1995, and the Eighth National Games in 1997.

He became the runner-up in men’s badminton team at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
