Male swimmer Wu Peng was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on May 16, 1987. In 1992, he was admitted to Hangzhou ChenJinglun Sports School. He entered Zhejiang provincial swimming team in 2000 and was selected to the national training team in 2001.

In 2001, he won the gold medal in men’s 200m butterfly, the third place in 400m individual medley and 1500m freestyle at the Ninth National Games.

In 2002, he won the gold medals in men’s 200m butterfly, 200m backstroke and 400m individual medley at the Busan Asian Games.

In 2004, he won the gold medals in men’s 400m medley and 200m butterfly at the National Swimming Championships (the Olympic trials).

In 2005, he won the gold medal in men’s 400m individual medley at the National Swimming Championships & Preliminaries of the National Games. and the first place in men’s 4×200 m freestyle relay, 200m butterfly, 400m individual medley, and 4×100m freestyle relay at the 10th National Games.

In 2006, he won the championship in men’s 200m butterfly and runner-up in men’s 4×200m freestyle relay at the Doha Asian Games.
