Female sailing athlete Wen Yimei was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on November 21, 1982. She was selected to the provincial sailing team in November 1997 and to the national team in 2005.

In 2005, she won the second place in women’s sailing 470 at the National Games. In 2006, she clinched victories in women’s sailing 470 at the Asian Sailing Championships, in women’s sailing 470 course race and long-distance sailing 470 at the National Sailing Championships in Qingdao, and in women’s sailing 470 course race at the National Sailing Championships Finals in Rizhao.

At the Doha Asian Games in 2006, she won the third place in women’s sailing 470.
