Female sailor Gao Haiyan was born in March 1991 in Xiuzhou, Jiaxing. She entered Jiaxing Youth Sports School in 2002 and Zhejiang provincial sailing team in 2006.

She won the championship at the National Youth Sailing Championships in 2007 and the bronze medal in sailing women’s 420 class at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
