Male swimmer Wu Peng was born on May 16, 1987 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He entered Hangzhou Chenjinglun Sports School in 1992 and Zhejiang provincial swimming team in 2000. In 2001, he was selected to the national assembled training team.

At the Ninth National Games in 2001, Wu Peng won the gold medal in men’s 200m butterfly, and the third place in men’s 400m medley and 1500m freestyle. At the 2002 Busan Asian Games, Wu Peng won championships in men’s 200m butterfly, 200m backstroke, and 400m individual medley. In 2004, he won championships in men’s 400m medley and 200m butterfly at the National Swimming Championships & Olympic Trials. In 2005, he won the championship in men’s 400m individual medley at the National Swimming Championships & Preliminaries of the National Games, and the first place in men’s 4×200m freestyle relay, 200m butterfly, 400m individual medley, and 4×100m freestyle relay at the 10th National Games. In 2006, he won the championship in men’s 200m butterfly at the Doha Asian Games and the gold medal in men’s 200m butterfly at the FINA Short Course Swimming Championships. He won the silver medal in men’s 200m butterfly at the 2007 FINA World Championships, the fourth place in men’s 200m butterfly at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the championship in men’s 200m butterfly at the 11th National Games in 2009, and the championship in men’s 200m butterfly at the Charlotte Grand Prix on May 15, 2010.

At the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, he won the third place in men’s 100m butterfly and the fourth place in men’s 200m butterfly.
