Male jumper Huang Haiqiang was born on February 8, 1988 in Linhai, Taizhou. He entered Zhejiang Sports School in 2001 and Zhejiang provincial athletics team in 2005.

In July 2005, he won the championship in high jump at the Fourth World Junior Athletics Championships. In July 2006, he won the championship in men’s high jump at the Asian Junior Athletics Championships. In March 2007, he won the first place in men’s high jump at the 11th World Youth Athletics Championships. In May 2009 and August 2010, he won the gold medal in men’s high jump at the National Athletics Championships.

He won the bronze medal in men’s high jump at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
