Female swimmer Chen Huijia was born in April 1990 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. She entered Wenzhou Youth Sports School in 1997, then Zhejiang provincial swimming team in 2001, and finally the national swimming training team in 2006.

She won the gold medal in women’s 200m breaststroke at the National Winter Swimming Championships in 2006, the third place in women’s 100m breaststroke at the Sixth National Intercity Games (the Games was renamed the National Youth Games in 2013) in 2007, and the gold medal in women’s 100m breaststroke at the National Swimming Championships & Olympic Trials in 2008. In 2009, she won gold medals in women’s 4×100m medley relay at the 13th World Aquatics Championships (breaking the world record), and in women’s 50m and 100m breaststroke at the Eighth Asian Swimming Championships.

She won the gold medal in women’s 4×100m medley relay and the bronze medal in women’s 100m breaststroke at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
